North County Shooting Center is excited to introduce our new Introduction to Pistol Mounted Optics Class, designed to help handgun owners better understand their optics, develop confidence using them, and build a solid foundation for safe and accurate shooting.
Whether you're new to red dot optics or already own an optics-equipped handgun and want to improve your proficiency, this class provides an opportunity to learn from an experienced instructor in a structured, safety-focused environment.
Our next class is on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at North County Shooting Center in San Marcos, CA.
Private classes and individual lessons are also available by appointment.

Proper Mounting and Maintenance
Develop a better understanding of proper optic mounting and maintenance to help keep your equipment functioning as intended.
Holster Considerations
Learn about common holster compatibility issues associated with pistol-mounted optics and the importance of using appropriate equipment.
Proper Presentation and Red Dot Acquisition
One of the most important aspects of transitioning to a pistol-mounted optic is learning to consistently locate the red dot when presenting your handgun.
Our instructor will help you develop familiarity with your optic and reinforce proper handgun presentation techniques.
Zeroing Your Optic
Learn about the importance of properly zeroing your pistol-mounted optic and how to evaluate your equipment's setup.
Live-Fire Range Training
Put your knowledge into practice through supervised live-fire range exercises designed to reinforce the concepts covered during the class.
The session concludes with a course review and an opportunity to discuss your training experience with the instructor.

What Should You Bring?
To participate in the class, students should bring the following equipment:
Handgun with a red dot optic already mounted. (We can assist with mounting and zeroing)
Three or more magazines.
Eye and ear protection.
150 rounds of ammunition.
Note-taking materials.
Water and snacks.
Please ensure your equipment is in proper working condition before attending.
